6月12日オークランド戦のブランドン・ロスの2ランホームランで、イチローはライトで「あたかも捕れるかもしれないというフリ」をして、ランナーを釘付けにした。そのトリックプレーについて語るロスのコメントがなんともユーモラスだ。

Moss drilled a two-run shot to right on the first pitch he saw from Phil Hughes in the second, but he and baserunner Josh Reddick both were fooled by right fielder Ichiro Suzuki, who was camped under a nonexistent flyball, into thinking it had stayed in the park.
"That was an incredible deke," Moss said. "I told him when he got to first base, he deked me so well I didn’t want to give him credit for it. I was thinking, ‘I thought that was at least to the track!' "
モスは2回、フィル・ヒューズの初球をライトに2ランホーマーを打ち込んだが、打者モスと走者ジョシュ・レディックは2人ともライト・イチローのトリックにひっかかった。イチローは存在しないフライボールの落下点に入ったようにみせかけ、あたかもボールがまだフィールド内にあるかのように2人に思わせたのだ。
「凄いフェイントだったねぇ」とモス。（ブログ注：モスは一塁手なので、モスがホームランを打った後、別のイニングにイチローがヒットで出塁してファーストに来たとき、モスのほうから走者イチローに話しかけた。それが以下のコメント）
「イチローがファーストに来たとき言ったんだよ。『あまりにも上手に騙されたからさ、褒めたくないくらいだよ。少なくともウォーニングトラックまでくらいは飛んだはずだと思ったのにさ』ってね」
